Democrat Jim Himes, who is running for re-election in the 4th Congressional District, raised more money than his opponent, Republican Steve Obsitnik, during the third quarter.
As Election Day nears, Himes also has more cash on hand.
Campaign finance reports for the third quarter were filed with the Federal Election Commission Monday. The reports take into account contributions and spending between July 1 and Sept. 30.
Himes ended the quarter with $1.6 million on hand. He raised $529,965 from individuals and political action committees during the third quarter and $2.7 million since he launched his re-election campaign.
Unlike Obsitnik, Himes has not loaned his campaign any money.
Obsitnik loaned his campaign $200,000 during the third quarter and a total of $333,793 throughout his campaign. He had $502,014 on hand at the end of July, receiving $408,726 from individuals and political action committees during the third quarter and $1.1 million overall.
While Himes has more money, Obsitnik spent more during the third quarter. Obsitnik spent $760,952, while Himes spent $513,490.
